Posted by admin on 29th December , 2009In the post below for the FOX, you can see the background that I used from this photo above. This is how I used it- in my layouts, I imported the photo and turned it into photo stamp. That give the photo a line effect. Then I placed it into the layout and converted it into non repro blue pencils and printed it out and went right into inks. I inked directly over the photo, which is vague and blurry enough that I wont be tempted to “trace” but use it to create a new city from the same photo, and bring real life to it. In my style working with photos can be a great help, but looks horrible if it looks anything like the photo. I actually don’t want it to look like the photo, there are lots of details missing that I could have gotten into, but that is not my style, right? I also added details and shadows that I normally would if I started it from scratch. I noticed the perspective was a bit off, but my work always seems to work best when things are not perfect! Lucky me!
The goal is to use this as a tool, not as a crutch and bring an extra kick to the work. Hopefully I did. What do you think?
